Before participating in the AU Jaipur Marathon 2025, it's important to evaluate your health using the guidelines based on the 2020 PAR-Q+ questionnaire:
Heart Health: Has a doctor ever diagnosed you with a heart condition or high blood pressure?
Chest Pain: Do you experience chest pain at rest, during daily activities, or when engaging in physical activity?
Dizziness or Fainting: Have you experienced dizziness, loss of balance, or loss of consciousness in the last 12 months?
Chronic Medical Conditions: Have you been diagnosed with a chronic medical condition other than heart disease or high blood pressure?
Medication: Are you currently taking prescribed medications for a chronic condition?
Musculoskeletal Issues: Do you have a bone, joint, or soft tissue problem that could worsen with increased physical activity?
Medical Supervision: Has your doctor ever advised you to only engage in medically supervised physical activity?
If you answer "yes" to any of these questions, it is highly recommended to seek medical advice before beginning or continuing your training. Ensuring you are medically fit will help you prepare responsibly and participate safely.
Consultation with Your Physician:
It is strongly advised to consult your personal physician before training for and participating in the marathon. If you have a history of chronic conditions, recent surgeries, or other health concerns, it is crucial to get a medical clearance. Your doctor, familiar with your medical history, current health status, and medications, is the best person to guide you on your suitability for the race. By following this advice, you'll be better prepared to make informed decisions about your participation.
Emergency Contact Information:
Before arriving at the venue, take a moment to fill out the emergency contact information on the back of your race bib. Include details such as allergies, medical conditions, and the contact information of a person who can be reached in case of an emergency. This contact should ideally not be a participant in the marathon.
Pre-Race Preparation:
Rest and Nutrition: Ensure you have adequate rest before the race. Eat a balanced meal the night before and a light meal a few hours before the start.
Clothing: Dress in lightweight, moisture-wicking clothing to manage sweat and prevent overheating.
Sun Protection: Apply sunscreen (as advised by your doctor) and consider wearing a cap or visor to protect yourself from the sun.
Warm-up: Warm up adequately before the race, especially in cooler weather, to prevent muscle strain or injury.
During the Race:
Listen to Your Body: Be aware of symptoms such as dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pain, or any discomfort. If you experience any of these, stop immediately and seek help at the nearest medical station.
Hydration: Begin hydrating well before the race and continue throughout. Be mindful not to overhydrate. Monitor your fluid intake and adjust according to your body's needs.
Pacing: Start at a comfortable pace and avoid overexertion, especially as the temperature rises. If you feel unwell, slow down or stop and seek medical assistance.
Post-Race Care:
Cooling Down: After finishing the race, continue walking to help redistribute blood flow to vital organs and prevent fainting or dizziness.
Hydration: Rehydrate gradually over the next 24 hours. Monitor your body's hydration status and adjust as necessary.

Medical facilities provided by the event's medical partner will be available at strategic points along the race route and at the finish line. Medical personnel can be easily identified by their medical volunteer t-shirts. If you need assistance, do not hesitate to approach them.
